Construction Site Safety Training Courses 

NPORS Construction Safety Awareness Course (S001) has been recognised as a comprehensive equivalent to the QCF Level 1 Award for Health and Safety in a Construction Environment. This implies that individuals who have completed the NPORS site safety awareness course, along with plant operators, can now apply for the CSCS Green Labourers Card. The only requirement is that they clear the CITB Health, Safety, and Environment Operatives Test.

– NPORS Safety Awareness (S001) – 1 Day Training Course.

The Story of NPORS: The Accreditation Scheme That Revolutionised the Construction Industry

Established in 1992, the National Plant Operators Registration Scheme (NPORS) has been a prominent accreditation and registration body in the UK. Their services extend beyond plant machinery and encompass various sectors including Construction, Industrial, Utilities, Warehousing and Distribution, Agricultural, Ports, and Marine.  

As founding members of The Accrediting Bodies Association (ABA), NPORS collaborates with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to provide training advice in accordance with L117. With a focus on maintaining standards and offering flexibility, NPORS works closely with industry experts and accredited training providers such as Quality Safety Training to ensure national and international compliance. 

NPORS is fast becoming one of the UK’s leading plant training schemes. It is, perhaps, lesser well known than the CPCS card scheme, but NPORS training and testing have been improving over the years and are now favoured by many construction companies. It is also accepted by Build UK, which leads the UK construction industry. 

NPORS training is much more flexible, with training being able to be delivered on-site and not just at a training centre. The scheme has also now aligned itself with CSCS so that the training cards can be embossed with the CSCS logo when operatives have taken and passed the correct HS&E test. 

Furthermore, NPORS now offer plant operators the opportunity to progress their skills and competency by providing trained operator and experienced operator cards, depending on the operator’s level of experience. These can be achieved via an NVQ.
