OUR CITB 5-DAY SITE MANAGEMENT SAFETY TRAINING SCHEME (SMSTS)
Our most in-depth CITB course yet, the SMSTS is designed to give site managers, agents and supervisors a deep understanding of essential on-site health and safety hazards. This certificate is one of the most highly-regarded competency qualification for site managers, and many employers insist that all their site managers hold it.
OBJECTIVES:
By the end of the course, managers and supervisors will be able to implement all relevant health and safety, welfare and environmental legislation in their daily work. They will also know how to apply new guidance and best industry practice, as well as state their duties and responsibilities regarding health and safety, welfare and the environment.
DURATION:
This is a 5-day course and will be delivered by our accredited CITB tutors.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
This course is designed for site managers, agents and persons who are, or are about to be, responsible for planning, organising, monitoring, controlling and administering groups of staff and workforce.

This five-day course will be held by our CITB-accredited tutors.
CITB 5 DAY COURSE CONTENT:
DAY 1 TRAINING WILL INCLUDE:
- Health & Safety: facts and figures; accident prevention; health and safety practice in the UK
- The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
- The Management of Health & Safety at Work Regs 1999
- Health and safety and the manager
- Implementing health and safety legislation
- Exercise 1
DAY 2 TRAINING WILL INCLUDE:
- Management of contractors
- The working environment
- Working at height
- Health and safety management for plant, equipment and systems of work
- Exercise 2
DAY 3 TRAINING WILL INCLUDE:
- Managing construction health risk
- Monitoring health and safety
- Exercise 3
DAY 4 TRAINING WILL INCLUDE:
- Communication and cooperation
- Construction health & safety
- Exercise 4
DAY 5 TRAINING WILL INCLUDE:
- Debrief and discussion of Exercise 4 and presentation of material
ASSESSMENT / CERTIFICATE:
Delegates will be assessed throughout the course using individual and group exercises, as well as a multiple-choice test at the end. Once they’ve successfully completed the course, they will be awarded a CITB Site Safety Plus certificate. This qualification can be renewed every five years by attending our short refresher course.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
This course is designed for site managers, agents and people who are, or are about to be, responsible for planning, organising, monitoring, controlling and administering staff. Delegates must have a good understanding of written and spoken English.
GRANTS:
Employers in the construction industry can apply for grants to put towards the cost of training.
