Who is EUSR?
The Energy & Utility Skills Register (EUSR) is a digital platform that maintains a record of the training and expertise of energy and utility industry specialists. EUSR credential holders have successfully completed training or assessment on one of our programmes, and their accomplishments are documented on their EUSR registration.
This registration may also feature their qualifications and authorisations. An individual’s EUSR record may include multiple scheme registrations with various expiration dates. After registration, individuals receive a unique EUSR ID number and a photo ID card that displays their current endorsements and expiration dates. As a part of the Energy & Utility Skills Group, EUSR is committed to providing a comprehensive and dependable resource for energy and utility industry professionals.
EUSR Southwest Category 1 Training Course
This training programme is designed to provide individuals with the essential abilities to locate utility services safely and efficiently using approved detection techniques. The training involves a combination of interactive presentations and practical assessments that will equip participants with the skills to effectively use CAT and Genny equipment. Upon completion of the course, attendees will have the confidence and expertise to perform their duties with accuracy, ensuring a high level of safety and productivity.
EUSR Southwest Category 1 Course Objectives
Through this training programme, attendees will acquire a deep understanding of how to proficiently use a Cable Avoidance Tool (CAT) and signal generator to confirm the presence of essential services on site. Moreover, the training will provide in-depth guidance on how to properly interpret and analyse service plans and drawings, enabling participants to carry out efficient and effective implementation.
EUSR Southwest Category 1 Course Duration
The EUSR Southwest category 1 course will be instructed by our esteemed instructors, who possess significant industry experience and have conducted this course for several years and will be facilitating this one-day training programme.
EUSR Southwest Category 1 COURSE CONTENT:
- Relevant legislation and how it relates to using equipment such as CAT and genny
- The purpose of the CAT and genny as they relate to construction works
- The purpose of carrying out an on-site survey of existing services and the different types of surveys available
- The correct PPE that delegates will need to wear
- How to identify different services from site plans and in-situ in the ground
- The hazards and risks of working in and around existing underground services
- The different functions of the CAT and what they mean
- The different functions of the genny and what they mean
- BSI PAS 128 – understanding what this is and what the different survey types are under BSI PAS 128
- How to deal with damaged services and what the implications are of service strikes
EUSR Southwest Category 1 Assessment and Certification
In order to ensure the competence of our representatives, we have created a collaborative assignment that will analyse their ability to identify and mitigate potential dangers in the workplace. Furthermore, we will evaluate their progress using advanced tools such as the CAT and genny to determine the exact location of services. After successfully completing the necessary training and surpassing our expectations, our delegates will be granted an EUSR card that remains active for up to three years.
EUSR Southwest Category 2 Training Course
By enrolling in the EUSR Southwest Category 2 programme, individuals will be equipped with the essential skills and knowledge necessary to safely excavate and maintain holes and trenches using hand tools and hand-held power tools. The course has been developed in accordance with the National Occupational Standards, ensuring that participants receive the highest quality training and assessment. Upon completion, attendees will possess the confidence and proficiency to carry out their duties with accuracy and efficiency.
EUSR Southwest Category 2 Course Objectives
Participants of the event will be given the chance to enhance their skills in handling a Cable Avoidance Tool (CAT) and signal generator, allowing them to verify the presence of services on site. EUSR Southwest Category 2 Course Duration
The EUSR Southwest category 2 course will be led by trainers who possess extensive industry experience and expertise. This one-day training programme is designed to equip participants with valuable skills and knowledge. EUSR Southwest Category 2 COURSE CONTENT:
- The correct PPE that workers need to wear
- The hazards and risks of working in and around existing underground services
- Safe digging practices around underground services including digging of trial holes and supporting excavations correctly
- BSI PAS 128 is – understanding what this is and what the different survey types are under BSI PAS 128
- How to deal with damaged services and what the implications are of service strikes
- How to identify different soil types when excavating and the dangers of collapse
- How vibration and water ingress can affect the stability of an excavation
- The requirement for correct segregation when working around excavations
- How to comply with environmental requirements regarding the storage of excavated soil
- Understanding the different types of tools that can be used for excavation works
EUSR Southwest Category 2 Assessment and Certification
To ensure that our representatives are well-equipped to handle any workplace safety hazards, we have created a comprehensive team exercise that will assess their skills. Additionally, we will be utilising advanced CAT and Genny tools to accurately locate services and assess their proficiency.
Once our delegates have completed the rigorous training programme and met the necessary standards, they will be awarded an EUSR card that is valid for three years. This will enable them to demonstrate their competence in the field and give assurance to our clients and stakeholders.
