Who is EUSR?  

The Energy & Utility Skills Register (EUSR) is an advanced digital platform that serves as a comprehensive database of the qualifications and expertise of energy and utility industry professionals. EUSR credential holders have successfully completed training or assessment on one of our programmes, and their accomplishments are meticulously recorded in their EUSR registration.

This registration also includes their qualifications and authorisations. An individual’s EUSR record may consist of multiple scheme registrations with varying expiration dates. Upon registration, individuals receive a unique EUSR ID number and a photo ID card featuring their current endorsements and expiration dates. As an integral part of the Energy & Utility Skills Group, EUSR is dedicated to providing a reliable and extensive resource for professionals in the energy and utility industry.

EUSR Training course 1 and 2

EUSR training course Category 1 Training Course

Participants will benefit from a combination of interactive presentations and practical assessments to gain proficiency in the use of CAT and Genny equipment. Upon completion, attendees will possess the knowledge, confidence and expertise required to perform their duties with precision, resulting in heightened safety and productivity levels. 

EUSR training course Category 1 Course Objectives   

By participating in this training programme, attendees will gain a thorough comprehension of the proficient utilisation of a Cable Avoidance Tool (CAT) and signal generator to substantiate the existence of vital services on site. Furthermore, the training will offer comprehensive direction on how to accurately decipher and scrutinize service plans and drawings, empowering participants to conduct implementation in a streamlined manner. 

EUSR training course Category 1 Course Duration  

Our highly qualified trainers with extensive expertise and years of experience in conducting the EUSR category 1 course will be taking charge of this one-day training programme, ensuring that participants receive top-notch instruction. With their guidance, attendees will gain valuable insights and knowledge that will help them excel in their respective fields. 

EUSR Southwest Category 1 COURSE CONTENT: 

  • Relevant legislation and how it relates to using equipment such as CAT and genny 
  • The purpose of the CAT and genny as they relate to construction works 
  • The purpose of carrying out an on-site survey of existing services and the different types of surveys available 
  • The correct PPE that delegates will need to wear 
  • How to identify different services from site plans and in-situ in the ground 
  • The hazards and risks of working in and around existing underground services 
  •  The different functions of the CAT and what they mean 
  • The different functions of the genny and what they mean 
  • BSI PAS 128 – understanding what this is and what the different survey types are under BSI PAS 128 
  •  How to deal with damaged services and what the implications are of service strikes 

EUSR training course Category 1 Assessment and certification   

To guarantee our representatives’ competency, we have devised a collaborative task to assess their capacity to recognise and minimise potential hazards in the workplace.

Additionally, we will employ advanced tools like CAT and Genny to monitor their improvement and pinpoint service locations. Upon completion of the requisite training and exceeding our standards, our delegates will be eligible for an EUSR card that stays valid for a maximum of three years.

EUSR training course Category 2 Course Objectives   

At the upcoming event, participants will have the chance to refine their expertise in handling a Cable Avoidance Tool (CAT) and signal generator. This will enable them to identify the presence of services on-site with greater accuracy. In addition, they will receive comprehensive guidance on how to read and interpret service plans and drawings, leading to a more streamlined implementation process.

For those involved in excavation projects, the EUSR Category 2: Implement Safe (Digging) Excavating Practices course is an essential training and evaluation programme.

Attendees will gain a thorough understanding of how to create and maintain secure holes and trenches using a range of hand tools and handheld power tools. This programme is a must for anyone seeking to work on excavation projects in a safe and efficient manner. 

EUSR training course Category 2 Course Duration  

The EUSR category 2 course will be conducted by trainers who bring with them a wealth of experience and proficiency from their respective industries. The programme is designed to provide participants with a range of skills and knowledge that are highly relevant and useful.

EUSR Southwest Category 2 COURSE CONTENT: 

  • The correct PPE that workers need to wear  
  • The hazards and risks of working in and around existing underground services 
  • Safe digging practices around underground services including digging of trial holes and supporting excavations correctly  
  • BSI PAS 128 is – understanding what this is and what the different survey types are under BSI PAS 128  
  • How to deal with damaged services and what the implications are of service strikes  
  • How to identify different soil types when excavating and the dangers of collapse  
  • How vibration and water ingress can affect the stability of an excavation  
  • The requirement for correct segregation when working around excavations  
  • How to comply with environmental requirements regarding the storage of excavated soil  
  • Understanding the different types of tools that can be used for excavation works 

EUSR training course Category 2 Assessment and Certification   

We take the safety of our workplace very seriously, which is why we have developed a thorough training programme for our representatives. This programme includes a team exercise that will put their skills to the test, as well as the use of cutting-edge tools like CAT and Genny to ensure accuracy. Once our representatives have completed the training and meet our standards, they will receive an EUSR card that is valid for three years.
