Who is EUSR? 

The EUSR is a comprehensive online database designed for professionals in the energy and utilities sectors. This platform serves as a repository for all records of training and skills obtained by individuals who have completed EUSR training and assessment. The registration process captures an individual’s qualifications and authorisations, as well as multiple scheme registrations with varying expiry dates. Upon successful registration, individuals receive a unique EUSR ID number and a photo ID card displaying their current endorsements and expiry dates. EUSR Category 1 – Locate Utility Services Training Course  

The purpose of the training scheme is to provide individuals with the vital skills required to locate utility services in a secure and efficient manner using approved detection techniques.  The training programme incorporates interactive presentations and practical assessments to educate participants on how to operate CAT and Genny equipment.  

Upon completing the course, attendees will possess the necessary knowledge and expertise to perform their responsibilities with conviction and precision.

Attendees of the training session will acquire practical skills in utilising a Cable Avoidance Tool (CAT) and signal generator for verifying the presence of services at a site. Furthermore, they will undergo thorough instruction on how to interpret and comprehend service plans and drawings for streamlining implementation. 

EUSR Category – Locate Utility Services 1 Course duration

EUSR Southwest Category 1 COURSE CONTENT: 

  • Relevant legislation and how it relates to using equipment such as CAT and genny 
  • The purpose of the CAT and genny as they relate to construction works 
  • The purpose of carrying out an on-site survey of existing services and the different types of surveys available 
  • The correct PPE that delegates will need to wear 
  • How to identify different services from site plans and in-situ in the ground 
  • The hazards and risks of working in and around existing underground services 
  •  The different functions of the CAT and what they mean 
  • The different functions of the genny and what they mean 
  • BSI PAS 128 – understanding what this is and what the different survey types are under BSI PAS 128 
  •  How to deal with damaged services and what the implications are of service strikes 

EUSR Category 1 Locate Utility Services Assessment and Certification  

In order to gauge the competence of our delegates, we have developed a collaborative exercise focused on identifying and mitigating potential workplace hazards. Following this, we will conduct an evaluation of their abilities through the use of advanced equipment – specifically, the CAT and genny – to pinpoint the precise location of essential services. After successfully completing the necessary training and surpassing the established benchmarks, our delegates will be awarded an EUSR card, which will be valid for a period of three years.
