Looking for local SPA Safety Passport Courses? Quality Safety Training is delighted to offer each of our SPA Safety Passport courses nationally.

SPA Safety Passport – Core

Did you know you can now book the SPA Core Day as a standalone course?

Quality Safety Training is proud to offer the SPA accredited Core Day.

Designed to provide a holistic overview of industrial Health and Safety best practices, the SPA Core course is most often completed as one component of a full ‘Safety Passport’ course. The Core SPA session is most often the first of a more specialised 2 day course, however it can now also be booked as a standalone one-day course for the purposes.

Course Objectives:

– Offer fundamental knowledge and outline responsibilities concerning Health, Safety, and the Environment.

– Gain insight into the consequences of identifying hazards and assessing risks, both for individuals and the employer.

– Illustrate the role of personal behaviour in accident prevention.

Duration:

This is a one day course, focusing on the six ‘Core‘ Safety Passport Modules.

SPA Core Day Course Content:

Six Core Modules

1. Organising for Safety – Understanding the legal responsibilities of employers and employees, relevant authorities, hazard mitigation and lone working.

2. The Workplace – Understanding how behaviours in different contexts can impact safety in different environments – such as Working at Height or Asbestos Awareness.

3. Tools, Plant and Machinery – The session will help delegates understand the risks posed by both powered and non-powered work equipment. Additionally, it will cover the risks involved in workplace transport.

4. Health – Delegates will focus on identifying risks, and implementing controls for hazardous substances that pose health risks. It also addresses other health hazards from workplace activities, such as musculoskeletal issues, manual handling, noise effects, and stress.

5. Procedures – Exploring the necessity of understanding emergency safety procedures – including first aid arrangements and access to primary care.

6. The Environment – This module includes current environmental regulations, safe storage practices, waste management hierarchies, and emergency planning procedures.

Assessment / Certificate:

The course takes one day to complete, relying on group participation and discussion – as well as exam paper assessment. The SPA Core cannot be delivered online. We can deliver training either on location or at our own dedicated training centres.

Upon completion, delegates are issued an SPA Core certification – which is valid for three years. To renew, delegates must attend our one-day SPA refresher course within the six months before the expiry date.
