As a component of the Energy & Utility Skills Group, EUSR strives to provide a comprehensive and reliable resource for energy and utilities sector professionals.

Who Needs a Cat 1 Card?

The EUSR Locate Utility Services Category 1 certification is tailored for those who rely on utility drawings or use location equipment to identify underground services. It is also suitable for individuals who need to be aware of the potential hazards associated with hitting underground services.

This certification is particularly beneficial for managers, supervisors, safety professionals, and operatives who work with underground services detection devices. By acquiring this certification, you will be equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to mitigate the risks and hazards associated with working with underground services, thereby promoting a safer workplace for all.

What is a Cat 1 Card?

If you happen to be working in the water, power, or gas industries, it is quite likely that you will need to obtain an EUSR card. This card has been designed specifically for utility workers, and it is a viable alternative to the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card. By holding an EUSR card, you will be granted access to construction sites, but it is worth bearing in mind that this card is solely intended for utility workers.

This means that only those with the necessary expertise and qualifications will be able to carry out their job responsibilities on these sites. Once you have completed the training and met the relevant criteria, you will be issued with an EUSR card that will remain valid for three years.

How Long is a Cat 1 Card Valid?

The EUSR card is a specialised certification that grants utility workers the authority to execute their tasks efficiently and safely. On the other hand, the CSCS card is designed for construction workers to obtain the necessary clearance for their on-site responsibilities. It is noteworthy that CSCS cards have a validity period of five years, while the expiration duration of EUSR cards varies from three to five years, depending on the training courses undertaken.
