The main objective of this Utility Excavation Cat 2 training programme is to equip individuals with the necessary skills to efficiently and safely work alongside utility services using approved techniques.
Under Utility Excavation Cat 2: Implement Safe (Digging) Excavating Practices, participants will receive the essential training and assessment to excavate and maintain holes and trenches using hand tools and hand-held power tools in a secure manner. The standards have been accurately formulated based on the National Occupational Standards.

Who is EUSR?
The Energy & Utility Skills Register (EUSR) is a digital repository that effectively maintains the training and proficiency records of professionals employed in the energy and utilities sectors.
Specialists who have successfully accomplished EUSR training programmes and evaluations have their accomplishments documented in their EUSR profile, which outlines their qualifications and endorsements. Multiple programme registrations with varying expiration dates may be included in each individual’s EUSR record.
Upon completion of registration, individuals are given a unique EUSR ID number and a photo ID card that reflects their current authorisations and expiration dates.

Individuals attending the Utility Excavation cat 2 sessions will learn how to implement Safe (Digging) Excavating Practices. This safety critical course will have both theoretical and practical assessments. the course objective is to increase the knowledge required for those working to safely excavate and maintain holes and trenches using both hand tools and hand-held power tools.
Excavating Practices (Category 2) certification delivers the necessary skills, knowledge, and understanding to safely excavate and maintain holes and trenches using both hand tools and handheld power tools.
In addition, the EUSR Category 2 in Devon programme will be conducting an essential training and assessment for individuals working on excavation projects, equipping them with the necessary skills to safely create and maintain holes and trenches using various hand-held and power tools.
The Utility Excavation cat 2: Implement Safe (Digging) Excavating Practices programme is designed to equip individuals with the requisite competencies to execute excavation projects without jeopardising their safety. Participants will be trained and assessed on the proper use of a range of hand tools and hand-held power tools, ensuring that they can create and sustain holes and trenches safely.

- BSI PAS 128 is – understanding what this is and what the different survey types are under BSI PAS 128

- How vibration and water ingress can affect the stability of an excavation
- The requirement for correct segregation when working around excavations
- How to comply with environmental requirements regarding the storage of excavated soil
- Understanding the different types of tools that can be used for excavation works
Utility excavation cat 2 Assessment and Certification
In order to gauge the competence of our representatives, we have created a collaborative project that involves a thorough examination of potential workplace dangers. The EUSR Utility Excavation cat 2 card provides access to construction sites, but it is exclusively intended for utility workers.
As a result, only individuals with the appropriate knowledge and qualifications can meet their job responsibilities on these sites. Once the training is completed and the necessary requirements are met, delegates will be issued an EUSR card that will remain valid for three years.
How Long is a Utility Excavation Cat 2 Card Valid?
The EUSR card is a specialised credential that grants utility workers the necessary clearance to execute their tasks with ease. On the other hand, the CSCS card is tailored for construction workers who need official consent to perform their duties on-site. The duration of the CSCS card’s legitimacy is five years, whereas the EUSR card’s endurance varies between three to five years, based on the course module completion.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This course can be combined with Category 1 to make a 1 1/2 day course.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
Delegates must be able to read and understand English.
